Who said family life was boring?

Family life, like every other aspect of life, is as fun and cool and exciting as you decide to make it. That being said, you get the idea that the wife isn't just talented, she's also pretty tolerant.

Boring is a blessing. I remember a conversation with an ex gang-banger from LA who lived in boring Rogers, Arkansas. I asked him if he missed the culture from LA and what he thought of Rogers. "I love it here. What you call boredom, I call peace. My kids play outside and I dont worry about drive-bys."

Now that brings a smile to my face.

And I like it more than the original (which I'm also a fan of) because the music still makes me want to kick ass, have fun, 1RM deadlift, whatever, but I can also finally understand me st of the lyrics.

Looks like fun. I like the video on his YT homepage with him and his daughter jamming.

I wish my nephews showed more interest.

This reminds me of the Mexican girl trio who did and awesome cover of Metallica's Enter Sandman. In both cases, if they're going to bother being in front of a camera for everyone to see, at least as a a family they are doing something cool and interesting.

If you're doing it right, it's boring. Not that what we do can't be interesting, energizing and enjoyable. But as noted on this blog (I'm pretty sure it was this blog)life is boring, interjected with moments of joy (vacations, births, birthdays, weddings, etc.,,,) and sadness (deaths, divorce, etc.,,,). It's the way it is.

If you can play with your family that will the best moment ever. Bring joy to anyone.

None of us are musically gifted. Can't even sing church hymns decently enough for choir. But we have fun in this vein. Acting out scenes in silly movies as a family, or pretending to stalk dragons in the closet.

Children learn very practical skills from unstructured or loosely structured play. Sometimes it's about how to fix stuff, other times, how to just loosen up.

Man, Blur was good.

P.J. O'Rourke talked about teaching writing by making his students write parodies. This and AnthonyVincent make the same point.
